Jeep CEO Mike Manley believes that the future might hold a return to form for the Jeep lineup. What does that mean for all of us? A Jeep truck model.
“I remain a big fan of a Jeep pickup. I think we have history that says it belongs in our portfolio,” said Manley. “At this moment and time, I have higher priorities. That doesn’t mean to say that we don’t work on it, we’re not looking at it.”
As FCA USA LLC continues to diversify its brands’ lineups, there is definitely room for the Jeep one to grow. This is definitely a way for Jeep vehicles to reach even more consumers that visit our Jeep dealership serving Long Beach. Now is the perfect time for automakers to consider vehicles outside the SUV bubble to make things more interesting.
“How many SUVs can you make? They’re running out of space within their own lineup to generate sales with new product,” said IHS Automotive senior analyst Stephanie Brinley to Detroit News. “The only one that makes sense is a small/compact pickup truck.”
The Jeep brand actually has a long history with pickup trucks. Many don’t know, but in the 1940s, Willys-Overland Motors, designers of the original military Jeep vehicles, had a successful set of Jeep pickup models. We’ll likely see a smaller pickup model based on the production elements of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee. With fantastic new models coming out all the time, getting a new Jeep model is a great investment!
