FCA US LLC Brings Back Chrysler History for Everyone

The Walter P. Chrysler museum will be opening its doors once again in June as stakeholders move to appease legions of vehicle history fans.The museum will be working on getting ready for the June premiere, all the while deciding which of the 65 models they will first feature from the rotating group of more than 300 concept, custom, and rare models they have in their collection.

“I think everybody’s been asking for it to reopen,” said Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association President Lori Emerling, an FCA US LLC engineer who works in Auburn Hills. “We’re really excited.”

The latest model they’ll have to showcase made its debut 20 years before the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica: it’s the 1997 Dodge Dakota Sidewinder, a two-door concept car that made headlines at trade shows. It’s hard to deny just how important this museum is to the area, with over 90,000 people visiting on average annually, according to the Detroit News. Looking back into the past, some of the oldest models include the 1902 Rambler and the 1909 Hudson model; both were acquired by Chrysler Motors in the late 1980s.
