How to Prepare Your Vehicle for a Trade-in

Being a Downey, CA Dodge dealer, we love it when people trade in their current vehicles and use the money they get to buy a new or pre-owned automobile from our location. While we certainly enjoy it when drivers trade in their cars, we like sharing advice that can help you get the most for your trade just as much.

 

If you’re thinking about trading in your current vehicle, the first thing you should do is make an appointment to bring it into our Champion Dodge service center. We’ll make sure your vehicle is working properly and handle any routine maintenance or repairs your car needs. Remember – our service center is open until 10 p.m., seven days a week for your convenience.

In addition to bringing your vehicle into our service center, you should also clean your vehicle and remove all of your personal belongings. Be sure you double check your automobile for your belongings before you trade it in to make sure you didn’t forget something.

You should also gather all of the paperwork you’ll need to trade in your vehicle. These documents include your automobile’s title, registration, and maintenance records. While you may think it’s a good idea to get a vehicle history report, it’s not necessary. We’ll pull a vehicle history report when we evaluate your trade-in.

Getting an idea of what your current car is worth is advisable as well. You can use the Value Your Trade Tool on our website to figure out the approximate value of your automobile or you can bring your car into our Dodge dealership.
