Man Discovers Chrysler Treasure in Backyard

Amateur treasure hunter Robb Meloche recently found himself an entirely different kind of treasure than what most of us might expect. 

“It was maybe two or three minutes after searching by the tree and I got a good hit,” Meloche said. “I didn’t see the coin at first and my daughter said, ‘There it is! There it is!’” Meloche has found plenty of coins in his time treasure hunting, but he’d never seen anything like this before. Our Chrysler dealership serving Cerritos thinks this find is an amazing experience and would love to see more like it. “As I was wiping it off, I saw the date 1924, so right away my heart starts pumping. Like, this thing is 90 years old. I’ve never found anything like that before,” he said.

What he found was a 1934 10th anniversary Chrysler Car novelty coin. With the first Chrysler vehicle created in 1924, he holds a unique piece of history that is very hard to find. It’s interesting to think about the novelty Chrysler items that people might find 100 years from now from today! Perhaps they’ll find a similar piece featuring the new 2015 Chrysler 200!

“I’m really thankful to have the opportunity to find something like that with my daughter. It was really neat,” Meloche said. “Hopefully it happens again. We haven’t stopped talking about it. Even if it’s worth five cents, to find something so old … It’s worth a million dollars to me.”
